I focus on understanding the reasoning behind a concept before moving to practice. The pace and material depend on your questions, coursework, and upcoming exams.
A quick diagnostic helps us distinguish a knowledge gap from a problem-solving or study-strategy issue.
Clear explanations and everyday examples come first. Practice questions and lesson summaries help reinforce the ideas.
We will also work on study habits and time management, so you have a practical way to keep learning on your own.
MEET YOUR TUTOR
I am Sara, a Yale biochemistry graduate with one year of professional tutoring experience. I help students make sense of difficult science and test-prep material through clear explanations and focused practice.
In my tutoring work, I start by identifying what is not clicking, then build a plan around the student's goals, coursework, or exam. I tutor middle-school science; high school biology, chemistry, physics, and AP courses; college biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry; and the SAT and MCAT. I also offer college admissions counseling and personal statement editing.
I earned a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University, with distinction in the major, and have four years of biochemistry and bioinformatics research experience. I scored 1560 on the SAT and 518 on the MCAT, including a 130 in CARS (98th percentile).
My broader teaching background includes two years of weekly volunteer tutoring, two summers as a college biology lab teaching assistant, and three years mentoring undergraduate researchers. Sessions are available online nationwide and in person in West Los Angeles.

FAQ
We will start with a quick diagnostic and a conversation about your goals. Then we will focus on the concepts or problem-solving steps that need attention and build a plan from there.
Bring your course materials, recent assignments or practice questions, and any topics that feel confusing. For exam prep, a target test date and recent practice results can help us plan.
